Top-Shelf Dog Fashion Couture
at the Bark and Whine Ball

Doggie couturiers Coco and Tana donated a generous basket to the evening's silent auction. In addition, jewelry from Coco and Tana was visible on the necks of many of the more fashionable pups. We were especially struck by a gorgeous three-strand dog necklace of pink freshwater pearls. The necklace can be ordered to fit your dog's neck, and also comes in several other rich colors to harmonize with your dog's coloring.

One brace of Beagle girls was spotted sporting some of these designer-style dog dresses from Bow Wow Meow. The dresses are designed to look like Louis Vuitton, Dior and Gucci, and feature fun trimmings such a feather boas, a strand of faux pearls, and a tulle slip peeking out from the lower hem. These are perfect for pups who love to harmonize with the designer duds of their humans.

Dogs who wanted to glam up but were unwilling to wear clothes were seen sporting a variety of elegant leashes, collars and harnesses. Bow Wow Meow was also the popular choice for harnesses, and their wide variety of colors and styles is sure to suit any pup's fashion sense. We especially recommend checking out the Italian leather harness.

One of the most outstanding collars seen at the Bark and Whine was the Rhinestone Encrusted Velvet Martingale from Posh Pawz. The eye-catching glimmer of the stones draws attention to a finely groomed coat without overshadowing it. This is a must-have for any true Princess, but be warned: these collars can cost as much as $220!

Many of the gentlemen hounds were sporting variations on the dog tuxedo. Our favorite was this poly-satin tuxedo tank from Moon Doggie Inc, which is decorated with delicate satin piping, ruffles, and faux pearl buttons. In fact, Moon Doggie is a popular costumer for the four-legged set in San Francisco. We spotted several ball gowns and party dresses provided by Moon Doggie, including this glitzy gold-and-leopard-print tulle dog dress with a sweet stretch bodice, and this more fun, frivolous party dress in red with white polka dots.

With all these elegant dogs around, the humans were on their best behavior as well. Attendees dined on elegant appetizers and the best local wines, while their four-footed friends ate top quality dog biscuits and bowls of fresh water. SPCA staffers were in attendance to take the dogs out on short walks when required.

All who attended agreed that the event was a tail-wagging success. So get your tiaras shined and your brocade leashes ready, fashion lovers, and we'll see you next year at the Bark and Whine Ball!
